Zygnema Agardh: Zygnemataceae.

Green algae. Filamentous, often found along with Spirogyra in still water. These algae are made up of very long unbranched threads that have a slimy coating; they feel slippery when picked up. Looks yellow-green when under water. With magnification two green star-shaped structures can be seen in each cell; these are chloroplasts.
